Come Again ( Camiguin ), Philippines
Camiguin is a beautiful island north of Mindanao, Philippines. I was born in Benoni , Mahinog , Camiguin but I was raised in Butuan City. We have a lot in Benoni which is situated on a mountain overlooking the sea. Benoni has a port. If one travels by land transportation, one has to go to Balingoan port. The time of travel is two and half kilometers from Cagayan de Oro City. One can travel by boat or ferry to be able to reach the port of Benoni, Camiguin. Time if travel is one-hour.
Mambajao is the capital of Camiguin. It is nearly 17 kilometer away from Benoni port but one will enjoy the sceneries because one travels along coastal roads where sea breezes race you and enjoy the mists of sea water as it touches your hair. Tourist attractions in Camiguin are many. Among them is the Ardent Spring. The inland resort is composed of man- made pools surrounded by lush rainforest and vegetation. Birds will add music to cascading water falls. Cottages are built to cater to foreign and local tourists. The place looked serene and tranquil. The water is cascading down to the exit pool.
The water is clear and cold in the cool ponds. Water in thermal pool is invigorating and sitting on the pool near the pipeline allowed one to feel a water massage on his body. One can endure its hotness. An arched bridge span the two sides of the pool and covered with a net which catch the dried falling leaves of trees. Below it is a pond that is intended for adult swimmers since it is less than 2 meters deep. The water is sourced from the inner mountain rock or pools which run a temperature of 40 degrees Celsius . Another attraction is the the Tongatoc cove. The cove is nestled below the road and it is secluded and can not be seen at the top. Anyone who threw a big rock can not see the rock splashing on the water below because it is magnetized by the inner cove or drawn by the pressure of the wind inside the cove. The place has a breathtaking view of deep blue water Surrounding the place at the side is verdant green vegetation . Your next stopover is the Sunken cemetery. It is so called because sea- hardened tombs can be seen during low tide and not visible during high tide. To reach the huge cross being built , one has to hire a pump boat or those courageous enough can swim to reach the Cross which is 50 meters from the nearest land. Artifacts or souvenirs are being sold at the viewing area . Another attraction is the Katibawasan Fall which is a 70 meter water that falls into a pool.
The old Spanish church ruins is another attraction as your next was the nest stop over. It is an iconic landmark of Camiguin because the church was ruined during volcanic eruption.
There stood the walls of the church that stood the test of time . Markings of the church can still be seen. There are two small islands in Camiguin, the Mantigue and the White island. The Sto. Nino cold spring is really cold. It is a big pool. Resorts abound in Camiguin.
The Paras Resort is near the White Island. In your next travel, you might as well take the trip to Camiguin to be in your bucket list.
